Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is allocated to schools for children of statutory school age from low-income families who are known to be eligible for free school meals (FSM) in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings to children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months and to children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces.

In 2012-2013, this will also include pupils eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (known as the Ever 6 FSM measure). Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, we will be held accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families.

From September 2012, we are required to publish online information about how we have used the Premium. This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium and the extra support that they receive.

This money is allocated to initiatives to ensure pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially.

Even if you do not wish your child to have the free meals, this would mean the school could still claim Pupil Premium funding that may be used to help your child. We also assure parents that all matters regarding the use of the fund are treated with discretion and in confidence.

If your child does not have Free School Meals but may be eligible because of the benefits received by your family, please contact the school office (in confidence) to register them.  Please contact Mr Miller or Mrs Faircliff.

Our lead teacher for Pupil Premium is Marie Dyche.

We encourage you to find out if you are eligible for free school meals, using the link on the right-hand side of this page, as the pupil premium provides much needed funds for your child’s education.
